Xi Jinping Says US "Trying to Bait" China Into Attacking Taiwan, Taipei Slams "Troublemaker" Beijing Chinese President Xi Jinping claims that the US was trying to bait Beijing into attacking Taiwan. As per a Financial Times report Xi made the claim to EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in April 2023. President Xi said the US had attempted to trick China into invading Taiwan, but that it would not "take the bait", FT reported. Various Chinese analysts have also claimed that the US is attempting to coerce Beijing by providing weapons to Taiwan. The Financial Times reported quoting experts that the US is also using other methods to “lure” China into a military conflict.
