US Readies Nuclear Missile Tests Amid Call To "Modernise Ageing Nuclear Deterrent" Of Minuteman III The US has planned a sudden test launch for the Minuteman III weapon system at the Vandenberg Space Force Base. While the first Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile test launch is scheduled for June 4, the second is scheduled for June 6. The purpose of the ICBM test launch is “to demonstrate the readiness of US nuclear forces,” according to Air Force Global Strike Command (AFGSC). The missile test comes at a time when Russia is rapidly seizing more Ukraine territory and Moscow’s ties with the West are at a historic low.
