US Audits Years-Long Delays In Submarines And Warships As China Boosts Shipbuilding Capacity The US Navy released a rare public audit of delays in key shipbuilding programs. According to the Navy, ships from nine programs are running behind schedule with a cumulative delay of more than 11 years. The audit results come as US lawmakers and Pentagon planners agree that the Navy needs to be prepared given China’s expansion in the Pacific. Apart from the US Navy’s capabilities, the delays will impact the country’s defence expenditure as well. The Congressional Budget Office estimated that the Columbia-class submarines program could now cost up to $120 billion - 20% more than original estimates. Watch the video to find out more.
