Trump’s Scheduled Chat with Elon Musk on X Ran Into Major Technical Difficulties and Delay On the evening of August 12, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump's scheduled interview with billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk on the social media platform X faced significant technical difficulties. Initially set to start at 8 p.m. Eastern Time, the live stream was inaccessible for many users due to a reported distributed denial-of-service (DDOS) attack. Musk acknowledged the issue on X, stating that efforts were underway to mitigate the attack, and announced that the event would proceed with a smaller number of listeners at 8:30 p.m., with the audio to be posted afterward. The interview eventually began at 8:42 p.m., over 40 minutes late, with over 1.3 million listeners tuning in by the 45-minute mark. Despite the technical glitches, Trump used the opportunity to praise Musk for the high level of interest in the event. During the conversation, some listeners noted that Trump appeared to have a lisp, potentially due to audio compression issues. Earlier in the day, Trump made his return to X, formerly known as Twitter, posting a video claiming that his ongoing criminal prosecutions were politically motivated. He also announced plans to visit Butler, Pennsylvania, for a rally in October.
