The luxury vessel Bayesian was reportedly caught in a freak whirlwind off the coast of Sicily around 4am on August 19. Lynch and his daughter are among six people who remain unaccounted for after their chartered sailboat sank off Porticello, near Palermo. Lynch’s wife Angela Bacares, 57, survived the tragedy but is said to have suffered injuries to both feet, believed to be from broken glass. A tornado over the water known as a waterspout had struck the area overnight, said Salvo Cocina of Sicily’s civil protection agency. One body was recovered amid attempts to reach the hull of the ship, which was resting at a depth of 50 meters off Porticello.The ship had a crew of 10 people and 12 passengers, the Italian coast guard said. The chairman of Morgan Stanley International, Jonathan Bloomer, and his wife are among those missing, the UK insurer Hiscox said.It is feared those unaccounted for may have been trapped inside their cabins, as the yacht was struck by violent winds and rain. “They were in the wrong place at the wrong time,” said Cocina, noting that another big ship nearby wasn’t as badly damaged.'
