Russia Retakes "10 Kursk Settlements", Poland Backs Ukraine Long-Range Strikes, Zelensky Slams Delay Russia claimed on Sept. 12 that its army had recaptured 10 settlements in its Kursk border region. "Units of the 'North' group of troops liberated 10 settlements within two days," Russia's defence ministry said.Speaking at a press conference in Kyiv, Ukraine President Zelensky said "Russians have launched counter-offensive actions."The Russian region has been partially held by Ukrainian forces since the start of the cross-border incursion on Aug. 6. Ukraine claimed at the end of August to have taken control of almost 1,300 square kilometres in Russia’s Kursk region. The surprise offensive, launched August 6, is the first time a foreign army has taken control of parts of Russia since World War II.
