Russia Reaches Another Ukrainian Town, Zelensky Ready For Fall Push, New NATO Chief Takes On Putin Russian troops have entered the embattled town of Vuhledar in Donetsk Oblast, Governor Vadym Filashkin said on Oct. 1. Filashkin described the situation as "extremely difficult," saying that, "the enemy has already almost reached the center of the town." A total of 107 civilians remain in Vuhledar, though all children have been evacuated, Filashkin said. President Zelensky called the situation at the front lines "very challenging" and emphasised that Ukraine must achieve all it can this fall. Meanwhile, Ukraine’s Defence Minister Rustem Umerov has announced significant changes within the ministry. Russian President Putin ordered the conscription of 133,000 new servicemen in Russia's autumn draft, starting Oct. 1 and lasting until the end of the year.
