North Korea's “GPS Jamming" Affecting South Korean Ships, Aircraft | Seoul Threatens to Use US Nukes The South Korean military has accused North Korea of staging a Global Positioning System (GPS) jamming attack. “North Korea conducted GPS jamming provocations in Haeju and Kaesong yesterday and today [November 8-9],” Seoul’s Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said. The move, Seoul says, has disrupted operations of ships and dozens of civilian aircraft in South Korea. South Korea’s JCS added that several vessels and dozens of civilian aircraft were experiencing “some operational disruptions” as a result. On November 9, Seoul’s military warned ships and aircraft operating in the West Sea area to be cautious of North Korea’s GPS signal jamming. GPS relies on a network of satellites and receivers that allows for global positioning and navigation.Seoul military also called on North Korea to immediately halt the interference and warned it would be held accountable for its actions.
