‘Nasrallah, His Replacements Killed’ Netanyahu Tells Lebanese Public, IDF ‘Not Sure’ | Hezbollah Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu seemed to confirm that Israel had successfully assassinated projected new Hezbollah leader Hashem Safieddine. The likely successor of slain Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah was targeted in an airstrike in Beirut on Oct 3, as per IDF.In a message addressed to the Lebanese public on Oct 8, Netanyahu said that Israel has “degraded Hezbollah’s capabilities.” While Netanyahu did not identify by name any of the successors he said had been killed, Hezbollah hasn’t publicly confirmed Safieddine’s death.Meanwhile, IDF spokesperson seemed to contradict Netanyahu by saying that the military is still looking into the results of the Oct 3 strike.
