Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) reportedly told visiting US lawmakers he fears being killed over his pursuit of normalising ties with Israel. According to a Politico report, MBS indicated that he still intends to move ahead with forging ties with Israel, though he fears it could cost him his life. MBS recently told US lawmakers he compares his situation to Egyptian President Anwar Sadat, who was assassinated in 1981. He was shot dead by Islamist terrorists two years after signing a peace treaty with Israel. MBS also cited the threats he faces explaining why any normalisation deal between Riyadh and Jerusalem must include a “true path to a Palestinian state.”
