Kim Jong Un Visits Flooded Sinuiju & Uiju County, Urges Restoration Measures On July 31, state media KCNA reported severe flooding in North Korea's Sinuiju city and Uiju County in Pyongyang Province, near the China border, affecting over 4,000 homes. The deluge has submerged around 3,000 hectares (7,400 acres) of farmland and damaged numerous public buildings and roads. Kim Jong Un visited the flooded areas in a rubber boat and held an emergency meeting aboard a train, expressing deep concern over the damage. The ruling Workers' Party's Politburo convened for a two-day emergency session to address the crisis. The flooding, triggered by Tropical Storm Gaemi, has also caused significant damage in southern China and other regions.
