Kim Jong Un Inspects Military Equipment After Failed Satellite Launch North Korea's state media on May 29 released pictures of leader Kim Jong Un visiting the country's Academy of Defence Sciences a day after the North’s failed attempt to launch a spy satellite.Kim and officials in military uniforms viewed an exhibition hall showcasing models of military equipment at the academy on May 28, KCNA news agency said.During the visit, Kim made a speech saying space reconnaissance capabilities are crucial for national self-defense against enemy threats and the country will never give up the fight to own that ability in the speech to the scientists and engineers of the academy on the 60th anniversary of its founding, state media added. The academy is a key military agency running the country's missile program.North Korea's attempt to launch a spy satellite on Monday (May 27) failed after the first stage booster exploded in flight. Monday's satellite launch was conducted by a separate agency handling an aerospace program, KCNA said.
