Israel Kills Fatah Leader In Lebanon, Says Maqdah ‘Worked’ With Iran | Hezbollah Drones Hit IDF Base Israel killed a senior member of the Palestinian movement Fatah in Lebanon on August 21. Khalil al-Maqdah died in a strike, claimed by the Israel Defence Forces, on his car in the southern Lebanese city of Sidon. In a joint statement, the IDF and Shin Bet accused the slain Fatah leader of working with Iran to ‘fund terror’ in the occupied West Bank. A senior Fatah official has accused Israel of “assassinating” compatriot Maqdah in Lebanon to inflame regional conflict. Lebanon's Hezbollah on August 21 said it launched an attack with a swarm of drones on military posts in the kibbutz of Amiad in northern Israel. The same day, Hezbollah launched more than 50 rockets, hitting several private homes in the Israeli-annexed Golan Heights. The IDF said rumours circulating on social media in the last hours regarding the rescue of hostages from the Gaza Strip are false. The Funeral of Yagev Buchshtab, one of the hostages whose bodies were recovered from Gaza this week, was held on August 21.
