Israel Confirms Killing Of Safieddine, Boasts ‘Reached Hezbollah Chief Nasrallah, His Replacement’ The Israeli army confirmed the killing of Hezbollah leader Hashem Safieddine, the apparent successor of slain group chief Hassan Nasrallah. In an announcement on Oct 22, IDF said that it “eliminated" Safieddine in a strike in a southern Beirut suburb three weeks ago.The Israeli military said that Nasrallah’s apparent heir was killed along with the head of Hezbollah’s intelligence directorate in the strike. Later, the IDF said that Israel's air force "conducted a precise, intelligence-based strike on Hezbollah's main intelligence headquarters," in Beirut in early Oct. "We have reached Nasrallah, his replacement and most of Hezbollah’s senior leadership", the Israeli army's chief said in a statement late on Oct 22. The Lebanese militant group has not yet issued a statement regarding the Israeli claim.
