Israel Announces ‘New Destructive Phase’ of War, Hits Hezbollah ‘Financier’ Al-Qard In Beirut Attack During a situational assessment on October 20, Defence Minister Yoav Gallant called for the next phase of military operations against Hezbollah. The meeting took place at the northern border with the 98th Division, amid ongoing Israel Defense Forces (IDF) activities in southern Lebanon. Gallant outlined a strategy focused on transitioning from defeating enemy forces to destroying infrastructure, including tunnels and ammunition depots. He stated, "We are essentially moving from a situation of defeating the enemy in all the contact villages to a state of destruction." He also highlighted insights from interrogated Hezbollah captives, revealing significant fear within the group.In the same briefing, IDF spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari announced plans to strike Hezbollah’s financial infrastructure in Beirut, urging civilians to evacuate areas linked to the group’s operations. Hagari indicated that the strikes would target multiple sites associated with Hezbollah’s financing, stating, "We will issue an advance evacuation warning to residents of Beirut." Following these announcements, the IDF conducted strikes in Beirut’s southern suburbs, including locations near the airport. The strikes focused on the Al-Qard Al-Hassan association, which is integral to Hezbollah's financial network.The IDF plans to reveal Iran's methods of financing Hezbollah in the coming days, with operations aimed at dismantling the group’s financial capabilities continuing amid ongoing tensions in the region. As Israeli military actions unfolded, the situation on the ground escalated, with explosions reported and evacuation warnings issued for southern Lebanon.
