Israel Air Force Bars Servicemembers' Trips Abroad As gallant Warns Of Threats From Tehran & Beirut Israeli Air Force Chief Maj. Gen. Tomer Bar has barred service members from traveling abroad, the military says. The directive applies to career officers and NCOs, and comes as Israel braces for an attack from Iran and its allies. The IDF* issued a directive on August 11 ordering all off-duty soldiers who are currently in Georgia or Azerbaijan to return to Israel immediately. The IDF said, “it is conducting threat assessments all the time, and updating accordingly the list of countries permitted for servicemembers to enter,” Kan news reported. This comes amid concerns that Iran may strike targets in those countries in retaliation for the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran.
