IDF Mulls Gun-based Air Defence As Iron Dome Fails Against Hezbollah Drones, Netanyahu Heads To US The Israeli Air Force is preparing to redeploy gun-based air defence systems to counter Hezbollah’s drones from Lebanon. The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) previously used the Vulcan, which was retired in 2006. Such gun-based systems are not effective at covering wide areas, the Times of Israel reported.
