Icy Conditions Or…? Brazil Investigates Why Voepass Plane Went Into Flat Spin Before Crash Brazil has declared three days of national mourning after a passenger jet crash killed all 61 onboard. The ill-fated aircraft carrying 57 passengers and four crew crashed in Brazil's Sao Paulo state on August 9, the airline said. The plane, whose last moments were caught on camera, went into a flat spin before crashing into a gated residential community in the city of Vinhedo. Other footage showed a large column of smoke rising from the crash site in what appeared to be a residential area. The airline Voepass said that its plane, an ATR 72 twin-engine turboprop, was headed for Sao Paulo’s international airport. “The company regrets to inform that all 61 people on board flight 2283 died at the site,” Voepass said in a statement.At an event in southern Brazil, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva asked the crowd to stand and observe a minute of silence as he shared the news.
