Hamas Blames Israel For Stalled Ceasefire Talks | Netanyahu Rejects Biden Critique Of War Policy A scuffle broke out in Jerusalem out as thousands of Muslims entered the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in the Old City to pray on the first night of Ramadan. Israeli police reportedly assailed worshipers with batons at the entrance to the Haram al-Sharif holy site, known to Jews as Temple Mount. Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh blamed Israel for the collapse of truce negotiations after talks in Cairo last week reached an impasse. Israeli PM Netanyahu rejected US President Biden's remarks that his approach to the war in Gaza was "hurting Israel more than helping”. Netanyahu claims Israel has “destroyed three-quarters of the Hamas battalions,” and that giving up now would be akin to “leaving a quarter of ISIS in Mosul”. Meanwhile, US President Biden issued a message on Ramadan, saying the suffering of the Palestinian people “is front of mind for me.”
