Philippines Slams China For Ship Collision Claim, Beijing Sends Amphisub To Spratly Beijing said a Philippines ship collided with a Chinese vessel near the Spratly Islands in the disputed South China Sea on June 17. The Chinese Coast Guard issued a statement saying that a "Philippine replenishment ship ignored many solemn warnings from the Chinese side." The Chinese statement also said it "approached the... Chinese vessel in an unprofessional way, resulting in a collision."
