China’s Sole Female Spaceflight Engineer Joins ‘Shenzhou-19 Mission’ Chinese astronauts said on Tuesday they were braced for challenges faced in space as they were set to carry out the upcoming Shenzhou-19 spaceflight mission, the country's latest effort to make itself a major space power.China will send the three-member crew, two men and one woman, to replace the Chinese astronauts who've lived on the Tiangong space station for the last six months early Wednesday.At a brief news conference Tuesday behind protective glass, the new mission commander, Cai Xuzhe, said this mission included “multiple extravehicular activities” and his team has done “sufficient training on the ground” to ensure the smooth running of the tasks.“There is always the possibility that unexpected situations may occur when we carry out missions on the space station. This poses a high demand for our crew's ability to deal with emergencies, and it is also the biggest challenge we face,” Cai said.
