China Deploys 3 Top Destroyers In Drill Aimed At Philippines, US Readies "Hellscape" Taiwan Plan According to state media, three of China’s Type 055 guided-missile destroyers took part in a single training mission for the first time. The People's Liberation Army's South China Sea drill came as tensions are running high following a series of clashes involving Chinese and Philippine coastguard ships in the disputed waters. The exercise ran for six days and five nights and involved the warships Xianyang, Zunyi and Yanan. The drill was carried out by the PLA’s Southern Theatre Command, which oversees the South China Sea.
