China Coast Guard expels Philippine vessels from waters near Huangyan Island China Coast Guard (CCG) said on May 16 that it expelled a fleet of Philippine vessels illegally gathering in the waters near China's Huangyan Island in the South China Sea earlier in the day.Earlier Thursday, the CCG monitored the fleet of Philippine vessels that illegally gathered in waters adjacent to Huangyan Island and that were carrying out activities unrelated to normal fishing operations.The CCG lawfully and properly regulated and expelled the Philippine vessels while collecting necessary evidence, it said.Huangyan Island, a group of reefs and islets about 550 sea miles away from the Hainan Island in south China, has long provided a perfect shelter for fishing ships from nearby islands and the mainland of China.
