Activist Aysenur Ezgi Eygi Killed In Israeli Firing Laid To Rest In Turkey The body of an American-Turkish activist who was killed by Israeli troops in the West Bank was brought to Istanbul on September 13, ahead of her burial in western Turkey.Israel has taken responsibility for the death of Aysenur Ezgi Eygi, who was killed last on September 6 while taking part in a protest against Jewish settlement expansion in the West Bank. Israel has said it was highly likely its troops had fired the shot that killed her but that her death was unintentional.A funeral ceremony is expected to be held on September 14 at her family's house in Didim, a district of Turkey's Aegean coastal province of Aydin.Turkey has launched a domestic investigation into the killing and said it would issue international red notices for those responsible. U.S. President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris said on September 11 her killing was unacceptable and Israel must do more to make sure such an event never happens again.Mehmet Suat Eygi, her father, said she hopes the United States launches an investigation as well.
