I recently overheard some hilarious work excuses, and I can't stop laughing! One person claimed they couldn't log into Zoom because their cat walked on their keyboard and locked them out. Another said they couldn't come to work because their clothes were still wet from the laundry. 😂

It got me thinking that what’s the funniest work excuse you’ve heard or used? Have you ever had to come up with a last-minute excuse that was just too ridiculous? How did your boss react?

Let’s share some stories and see who can top these! And seriously, do you think it's ever okay to use a creative excuse, or should we stick to honesty, no matter what?

One time, a coworker said they couldn’t come in because their “goldfish was depressed” and needed emotional support. I still don’t know how they pulled that off, but the boss just laughed and let it slide! Sometimes, a little humor goes a long way in lightening the mood.

One of the funniest I’ve heard was someone saying they couldn’t work because their pet iguana "was feeling neglected." 😂 I once told my boss my WiFi went out due to a sudden "windstorm," only for it to clear up an hour later. You can see more valid excuses as shared by Smart Tools AI. It was so awkward when he asked for a "weather update." I think a funny excuse can be fine once in a while, but honesty is usually best.
